Cloud computing is the delivery of services such as servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and intelligence over the internet (“the cloud”) to provide greater efficiencies, flexible resources and economies of scale. (Cloud services include things like Google Docs, Netflix, Siri or internet banking, all of which give you access to the information or other services you need any time.) With cloud technology, you typically only pay for the services you use, which helps you lower your costs, run your practice more efficiently and scale as your business needs change.
Clinic to Cloud allows you to export your data into XML at any time, simply by pressing the “export” button.
Yes, cloud technology relies on internet access and the speed of Clinic to Cloud depends on the bandwidth of your internet connection. As a minimum, practices should have a business-grade SHDSL or better yet, NBN internet connection.
Cloud technology provides many advantages – including enhanced security – compared to older systems, which is why the Australian Government is encouraging the medical industry to move to the cloud. The benefits include reduced costs, less hardware and more efficient disaster recovery. And with many employees being constantly on the go, teams can work together and stay connected from anywhere.
In the past, if the internet wasn’t working at your practice, you and your staff may have been unable to access your data. Because Clinic to Cloud is fully mobile and accessible on any device, you can access it in three ways:
1.Main internet (NBN, ADSL2, satellite dish 4G)
2. Phone hotspot – simply switch to your smartphone’s Wi-Fi hotspot
3. 4G/5G hotspot – this (often prepaid) device can be kept on hand in case the other options are not available.
Because health information is so sensitive and valuable, security is a priority for healthcare organisations. Thankfully, cloud technology is one of the safest ways of storing data, and is much more secure than legacy IT systems. Clinic to Cloud uses the world's best enterprise-class public cloud available – Microsoft Azure, which ensures 24/7 data security and privacy. Customer data is backed up in Microsoft’s dual data centres in Sydney and Melbourne, so you can be confident your sensitive clinical information remains onshore and is subject to Australia’s rigorous privacy laws.
